As the 2016 Fenway Health’s Men’s Event and Dinner Party plans are under way, the renowned health organization has just announced the winners of this year’s Congressman Gerry E. Studds Award and Dr. Susan M. Love Award: Douglas Brooks and Attorney General Maura Healey.
Douglas Brooks is being recognized for his years of tireless work in the battle against HIV/AIDS. He serves as President Obama’s lead advisor on domestic HIV/AIDS and is responsible for overseeing implementation of the National HIV/AIDS Strategy and guiding the Administration’s HIV/AIDS policies across Federal agencies. Attorney General Healey is being honored for her work on LGBT civil rights and marriage equality, and for being an out and proud LGBT politician. Since taking office, Healey has championed issues that affect the lives and health of some of Massachusetts’ most vulnerable residents, including LGBT rights, addiction, and rising health care costs. At each Dinner Party, the Dr. Susan M. Love Award honors and celebrates a woman and/or organization that has made a significant contribution to the field of women’s health.
