Kerrigan’s deep record of accomplished management and of leveraging leadership roles to advance LGBTQ issues have prepared him to lead from day one as the Commonwealth’s next Lieutenant Governor. As a former aide to the late Senator Ted Kennedy, Kerrigan worked for passage of the Employment Non-Discrimination Act, federal legislation introduced by Senator Kennedy that would prohibit discrimination against LGBTQ workers. While a Selectman in his hometown of Lancaster, Kerrigan pushed the local chapter of the Boy Scouts of America to reject the ban on openly gay scout masters. As CEO of the Democratic National Convention in Charlotte in 2012, Kerrigan oversaw the most LGBTQ-inclusive and welcoming political convention in the country’s history.
If elected in November, Kerrigan will become the country’s first openly gay Lieutenant Governor.
The MassEquality PAC stands with, develops, and elects candidates who outspokenly champion justice and equality for all LGBTQ people across Massachusetts. Since 2004, the PAC has consistently researched, interviewed and endorsed pro-equality candidates for both state and local offices. The six-member board works tirelessly to ensure that these candidates have the platforms to advocate for equality for all members of the LGBTQ community.
