Joins Beantown Softball League as Corporate Sponsor; Adds “BGMC BassRunners” to roster of teams in LGBT League
BOSTON, Mass.—The Boston Gay Men’s Chorus (BGMC) is pleased to announce it is now sponsoring a team in the Beantown Softball League, the largest athletic organization open to LGBT people and straight allies in New England. The BGMC BassRunners will take the field during the 2015 season, which starts April 18. The BGMC BassRunners is the new name for the Ramrod Rangers who won the 2014 Division 4 championship.
“Community engagement is a core part of the Chorus’s mission and we’re thrilled to be reaching out to a segment of LGBT community we’ve haven’t previously collaborated with,” said BGMC Executive Director Craig Coogan. “We chose the name BGMC BassRunners because bass is a vocal section of the Chorus and we couldn’t resist the pun!”
Founded in 1978, the Beantown Softball league fields close to 30 teams in four divisions of play: competitive, intermediate, and two recreational divisions. BGMC BassRunners will compete in Division 4 of the Beantown Softball League.
