The Yankee Cruising Club (YCC), New England’s club for LGBTQ boaters, refocuses on its core mission of bringing together gay, lesbian, and transgender boaters to have fun on and off the water. As part of the relaunch, the YCC has created a new website, planned several events, and suspended dues.
The new website, www.yankee-cruising.org/ is a place where members can learn about events, see photos from past outings, chat about boats, and get in touch with other members.
The club has planned regular meetings both on and off the water. During the sailing season, there are three on-the-water events planned: June on Buzzards Bay, July in Boston Harbor, and Provincetown for Carnival in August. In addition, there are plans for many smaller events to give members without boats a chance to get out on the water.
On the relaunch, incoming Commodore Keith Costa said: “When I moved back to Boston, I was disappointed to find out that the club was not very active. I’m excited to be part of the efforts to get the club going again and I’m looking forward to a great season. We welcome all new members with an interest in boating.”
The Yankee Cruising Club was founded over 25 years ago to bring together gay and lesbian boaters together to meet, make friends, and most importantly get out on the water. It is an open and friendly place for men and women to socialize and be themselves. The club is made up of a diverse group of water lovers: men and women, young and young at heart, boat owners and crew, sailboaters and power boaters, those that are new to the sport and with extensive blue water experience.
