Salem Trick-or-Treating, free museum admissions and parking, Friday October 7, 3:00 p.m.
SALEM, Mass.—Mayor Kimberley Driscoll, in partnership with Salem’s local attractions, museums, and downtown merchants, is pleased to announce that this Halloween’s “Mayors Night Out” will take place on Friday, October 7, 2016.
Beginning at 3:00 p.m. participating museums and attractions will open free of charge to Salem residents. Residents must provide a photo identification showing proof of Salem residency to gain free admission. Students may use a school identification card, bus pass, or a Salem Public Library card.
As part of Mayor’s Night Out the Museum Place Mall Garage and the South Harbor Garage will offer free parking to Salem residents after 4:00 p.m. (proof of residency will be required when you exit the garages).
“Mayor’s Night Out has become a great tradition for Salem residents,” said Mayor Driscoll. “October is a busy time for our businesses and this is their way to say thank you to our citizens, offering a day that lets our locals enjoy Halloween.”
Mayor’s Night Out Trick or Treat has become a huge success and all of the merchants look forward to seeing our little ones all dressed up. Trick-or-treating will begin at the big fountain by the Museum Place Mall at 5:30 p.m. and continue down the Essex Street Pedestrian Mall and around the shops in the Museum Place Mall. Then families can venture on their own and visit other participating businesses elsewhere across the downtown (check salem.com for complete listing). Costumes are encouraged! Trick or Treat bags will be provided by MAGIC 106.7 and the Salem Witch Museum. New this year, the Salem law firm of Mazow | McCullough, PC will be distributing safety flasher lights to help keep our little trick or treaters safe and seen, especially during neighborhood trick or treating on the 31st.
Also, join the artists on Artists’ Row, 24 New Derby St. for Mayor’s Night Out on October 7 from 4pm to 6pm for a free fun activity. Tap into your creative spirit and decorate a Halloween mask or a wooden pumpkin round. All materials will be provided on a first come, first serve basis and limited to one per child. This decorating event is sponsored by the City of Salem Public Space Initiative, Artists of Artists’ Row, Salem Main Streets and Creative Salem.
