Marlborough, Massachusetts – One hundred and seventy five master craft designers and fine artists were selected from among nearly 1000 applicants to participate in the 16th annual Paradise City Arts Festival, March 22, 23 & 24, at the Royal Plaza Trade Center in Marlborough, MA. Innovation and diversity are key to this show’s appeal. A range of fine furniture, lighting, art glass, landscape-scale and pedestal-size sculpture, wall tapestries, ceramic dinnerware, wearable art, playful and elegant jewelry and remarkable paintings and photography.
Paradise City continues its celebrated series of themed exhibitions this spring with “Trash Talk” in the Sculpture Café. Artists have always found inspiration in the creative use of found objects and recycled materials. From fashion, paintings and jewelry to furniture and monumental sculpture, Paradise City’s exhibitors demonstrate how one person’s “trash” is transformed into another’s treasure through artistry and craftsmanship.
Live jazz entertains attendees every day in the sunlit Sculpture Café, and adds to the lively ambiance in the exhibition hall. Paradise City presents the JD Jazz Trio’s blazing bass, keyboards and drums on Friday. Barbara Ween with Café Society brings a true Jazz Diva to Paradise City on Saturday, with red-hot vocals and music from the Great American Songbook. Jazz up your Sunday afternoon with the Green Street Trio, featuring pianist, composer and dance accompanist Paul Arslanian, the founder of the Jazz Tap Ensemble. Arslanian is joined by noted bassist George Kaye and percussionist Jon Fisher.
The Paradise City Arts Festivals in Marlborough and Northampton were the only East Coast shows voted into AmericanStyle Magazine’s “Top 10 Art and Craft Fairs in America” in 2012. Coming in at #6, 2012 was the first time on this illustrious list for Paradise City Marlborough. Although the smallest show among the Top 10, it has been highly acclaimed for its extraordinary quality, selection and diversity by the Boston Globe, Boston Magazine and the New York Times. AmericanStyle writes, “Treats for the eye and the ear greet visitors at Paradise City Marlborough… this show allows artists to ‘think outside the box’ and presents work that you won’t find anywhere else.”
