There is a reason to celebrate in the LGBT community. Hate-filled Arkansas Midlands High School Board Vice President, Clint McCance, has resigned.
After much LGBT media coverage, a fast HRC move, a FIRE CLINT McCance FaceBook page calling for his resignation (whose numbers went above 55,000 fans in less than a day), and Anderson Cooper’s “Keeping Them Honest” segment, the man who made national uproar with anti-gay people/kids.
“Seriously, they want me to wear purple because five queers committed suicide … the only way I am wearing it for them is if they all comit suicide,” he said via his FB page.
His comments went on to say that he liked the fact that “fags can’t procreate. I also enjoy the fact that they often give each other AIDS and die … I would disown my kids if they were gay…”
CNN’s Anderson Cooper interviewed McCance yesterday, but his remarks fell short of a true apology. When asked by Cooper what he was apologizing for he said.
“It was over the top, Anderson. I just went too far,” McCance said while looking away several times.
When questioned about if he would use the words again, McCance thinking, said.
“I know my statements were too harsh.
He did say during that interview that he was going to resign and he made that a reality today, October 30th.
Dr. Phil, wearing a purple suit to and emphasizing his attire, in an interview with Anderson Cooper said that McCance was not apologetic at all.
The news is being welcome everywhere in the LGBTQ community. The Fire Clint McCance FaceBook page went up to 61,000 as HRC put plenty of pressure for McCance to resign.
According to the HRC website, the LGBT community originally learned of the McCance comments by Anthony Turner, a 1998 graduate of Midland High School. The Advocate was the first LGBT media to report on the story.
