glma_md

Each year, GLMA honors exemplary individuals and/or organizations for their significant contributions to improving the health and well-being of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) individuals or people living with HIV/AIDS, improving the climate for the LGBT health workforce or contributing to gains made by the LGBT civil rights movement. GLMA honors these individuals and/or organizations with the GLMA LGBT Health Achievement Award, which is presented at the GLMA Achievement Awards Gala.

The Fenway Institute at Fenway Health is among this year’s GLMA Achievement Award honorees. The Fenway Institute works to make life healthier for those who are traditionally underserved: LGBT people, women, those living with HIV/AIDS, and people from communities of color. It does this through research, training, education, and policy development, focusing on national and international health issues. The Fenway Institute’s mission is to ensure access to quality, culturally competent medical and mental health care for everyone.

“GLMA is proud to honor The Fenway Institute, which has been a longstanding leader in LGBT health and a frequent partner in efforts to improve the health and well-being of LGBT people. The Institute’s many accomplishments focusing on research, education and policy put it in the great company of all GLMA Achievement Award recipients, who have done so much to ensure LGBT people receive the healthcare they need and deserve,” said GLMA President Henry Ng, MD MPH.
