BOSTON, Mass.–Foundation For International Justice, Inc. is pleased to announce that we will lead the LGBT Division in The St. Patrick’s Peace Parade in South Boston on Sunday March 16, 2014. We will march under the Stonewall Veterans Banner with a large contingent of youth from Safe Homes for LGBT Youth Group of Worcester, Massachusetts; members of PFLAG of Worcester; members of PFLAG of Cape Cod; and Board Members of the Foundation For International Justice, Inc. We are marching to promote equal human rights for all citizens, and also to protest the blatant discrimination displayed by the Allied War Veterans Council of South Boston, organizers of The St. Patrick’s Day Parade.
The founder of Foundation For International Justice, Inc., Erica Kay-Webster, is a veteran of the United States Marine Corps, and she is one of the surviving veterans of the Stonewall Rebellion in New York City on June 28, 1969, which was the beginning of the modern day LGBT equal rights movement. She is also the founder of Promise Place School on Cape Cod, which is scheduled for opening in 2014.
Many of our participants will be wearing the black and pink T-shirts of Promise Place School, which is being created as a model year round residential school to meet the needs of our homeless LGBT youth in Massachusetts from ages 11 – 24. Many of these youth are currently living on the streets because they have been rejected by their families. Currently we have over 600,000 homeless LGBT youth in the United States. Our model school will provide a safe, loving home environment, healthy nutritious diet, clothing, health care, and a full educational program so our youth can complete their high school education. Promise Place School features a physical fitness and recreational program which will include sailing, kayaking, marine biology and environmental studies, hiking, field trips and many other activities. Scholarships for continuing college or vocational education will be available to all successful graduates of Promise Place School. Foundation For International Justice, Inc. plans to replicate this model school where needed in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and throughout the United States.
All are welcome to join us in the St. Patrick’s Peace Parade, which will follow the St. Patrick’s Day Parade.
