BOSTON, Mass. – The National LGBT Health Education Center at the Fenway Institute will host the educational webinar, “Meeting the Health Care Needs of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender People: The End to LGBT Invisibility,” on Nov. 7 from 2-3 p.m. ET.
The free webinar, which features Dr. Harvey Makadon, MD, director of the National LGBT Health Education Center and clinical professor of medicine at Harvard Medical School, is aimed at health care providers, students and others interested in improving health outcomes for LGBT people.
“Thanks to the Affordable Care Act, thousands of previously uninsured LGBT Americans are entering our health care system. But pervasive bias, stigma, misunderstanding about who LGBT people are, and policies that do not recognize LGBT identities continue to create barriers to care for this community,” said Dr. Makadon. “This webinar offers critical information and tools so care providers can better understand the unique health needs of the LGBT community and create better outcomes for LGBT patients.” [pullquote]“Thanks to the Affordable Care Act, thousands of previously uninsured LGBT Americans are entering our health care system.
